Help and troubleshooting

Terrace Tally is a private app: you play with the friends group that invited you. This page covers everything that works the same in every game: signing in, your phone, notifications and your account. For the rules and questions about a particular game, choose it below. If the answer is not here, there is a contact address at the bottom.

Help for your game

Last Man Standing

Scores and results

Results arrive from our football data feed in both games, usually within half an hour of the final whistle. The details are on each game’s help page: Predictions League and Last Man Standing.

Signing in

There is no password. You type your email address, we send a six-digit code, and you type the code in.

Use the newest email. If you ask for another code, the previous one stops working straight away. Always use the code in the most recent email.

Start and finish in the same window. Type your address and enter your code in the same browser window. If you started from a link inside your email app, stay in the window that opened: switching to Safari or Chrome halfway through leaves the sign-in behind in the other one.

Three wrong goes ends the attempt. Ask for a new code and start again.

Cookies need to be allowed for terracetally.com. If your browser is set to block all cookies, signing in cannot work.

The code has not arrived

  • Check your junk or spam folder for an email from signin@terracetally.com, and mark it as safe so the next one lands properly.
  • Some email providers hold messages for a few minutes. If it takes longer than about fifteen minutes, ask for a fresh code when you are ready to use it rather than using the old one.
  • The address has to be the one the person running your game invited. If you have several addresses, check with them which one they used.

Putting Terrace Tally on your phone

Open the app in your browser, then use the share menu and choose Add to Home Screen. It then opens like an app, without the address bar.

If you do not see that option, you are probably in a browser inside another app, such as Facebook or WhatsApp. Open the page in Safari or Chrome first.

Already added it? Open Terrace Tally from the icon on your home screen, not by typing the address. If you open it in the browser on a phone where it is already installed, it reminds you to use the icon, because that is where your notifications arrive.

Notifications

What you can get. Reminders before a deadline if you have not picked, your points or whether you are through after each match or round, and a few others, such as a kick-off being moved. Each game’s help page lists its own.

Turning them on. The first time you open the app on a phone, a card asks whether you want reminders. Tap Yes, remind me, then allow notifications when your phone asks. Each phone or computer is set up separately; a computer only asks if none of your devices has notifications on yet. You can turn them on for any device later in Account, under Notifications.

On an iPhone, notifications only work once Terrace Tally is on your home screen (see above) and opened from there. That needs iOS 16.4 or later.

Choosing what you get. In Account, switch off anything you do not want, one kind at a time. The person running your game can also switch some kinds off for the whole game.

Quiet hours. Reminders due between 22:00 and 08:00 wait until the morning, unless that would be after the deadline. You can change the hours, or turn them off. Results are never held.

Nothing arriving? In Account, tap Send me a test. If the test does not arrive within a minute, check that notifications for your browser, or for Terrace Tally on your home screen, are allowed in your phone’s settings. If you have no phone that can take them, the most important reminders come by email instead, unless you have switched that off.

Everything is in the app too. The bell at the top of the app lists your recent notifications, whether or not your phone showed them.

Your account

Your name in the game is what your mates see on the table and in everyone’s picks. Change it in Account at any time; it changes everywhere.

Your email address is how you sign in. To change it, email us from the address you use now.

Signing out is at the bottom of Account. A phone that is signed out stops getting your notifications.

Still stuck

Email hello@terracetally.com and tell us:

  • the email address you are trying to sign in with;
  • which game it is about, and the name of your friends group;
  • what the screen said, word for word;
  • if it is about a code, the time on the email and roughly when you asked for it.

That is usually enough for us to find it without any back and forth.
