Football games with your mates should be easy to run.
Terrace Tally grew out of a Sheffield Wednesday prediction league run on WhatsApp and a spreadsheet. The competition was the fun part. Chasing entries before kick-off, working out who had the scorers right and adding up the points afterwards was not.
So we built the thing that does the chasing and the adding up. Everyone in your friends group predicts your club’s matches on their phone. Deadlines look after themselves, every point is explained, and the table is there whenever anyone wants to look.
The games
The Predictions League is played over a season by one friends group following one club. For each fixture you predict the full-time score and which of your club’s players will score. Points are awarded for getting the result right, the exact score right and the scorers right, and your game’s rules page sets out exactly how.
It is for football fans who follow one club together, in any of the top four divisions of English football: the Premier League, the Championship, League One and League Two, with cup ties included. More leagues are on the way, and interest on the waiting list decides which come next.
There is a Joker to double your points on a handful of matches a season, so a well-timed call on a derby is worth more than a safe one in February. There are season picks too: where your club finishes, and who ends up their top scorer.
Last Man Standing is new this season. Each round you pick one team to win, from any of those four leagues. Win and you are through; lose and you are out. You cannot use a team twice, and the last one standing wins. The person running the game chooses the rules, from draws and lives to postponed matches, and the app runs the rounds, results and who is out.
Nobody needs a password. You sign in with your email address and a six-digit code, and you stay signed in on your phone for the rest of the season. The person running your group sends a link, approves who joins, and can enter a prediction for anyone who is stuck in a tunnel at five to three.
Why it is a pilot
One group is playing the 2026/27 season on Terrace Tally now, and we are adding a small number of groups during the pilot before opening up properly. That is deliberate. A prediction league is only any good if it works every single matchday, so we would rather get it right with a handful of groups who will tell us honestly when it does not.
The Predictions League came first; Last Man Standing followed this season, built for the same friends group and the same sign-in. If there is another game your group runs on a spreadsheet, we would like to hear about it.
Who makes it
Terrace Tally is a product of Maven Technology Services Ltd, trading as Mavents, in Sheffield. We are independent of the football clubs and competitions mentioned on this site, and we do not take bets, collect entry fees or hold prize money. What a group does among themselves is their own business.
